Rihanna Teases New Music Video With Shakira

Although we’ve seen Rihanna all over Instagram lately, the Bajan beauty has been pretty quiet on the music front (which makes sense, since Beyonce basically made us forget any other female vocalists even existed after her sneak attack album last year). Her last album Unapologetic was released in November 2012, and it’s now been the longest stretch that we’ve had new material from her since 2007. But the songbird has a new  single coming out with Shakira that has a release date of January 13.

The song, “Can’t Remember To Forget” is reportedly the first official single off of Shakira’s upcoming 2014 album and they’ve already shot the music video. Rih Rih hit her social media accounts with a quote from Shakira about it:

As we remember, Shakira previously teamed up with Beyoncé for the 2007 track and sexy video “Beautiful Liar,” which topped the UK charts and entered the top ten in 20 countries. How do we think she’ll do teaming up with Rihanna?

In other news, during a recent interview with HipHollywood, DJ Mustard explained that he was getting ready to hit the studio with Rihanna, so get ready to hear even more from her soon!

‘12 Years a Slave’ Director Steve McQueen Heckled at New York Critics Circle Awards

We’re all for the critics and their opinions, but Monday night’s 79th Annual Awards sounds like it got downright disrespectful when CityArts editor Armond White  (pictured right) decided to heckle director Steve McQueen while he was accepting an award.

It started out as a beautiful moment as the legendary Harry Belafonte introduced McQueen and got ready to present him with the  best director award award, but as soon as the director took the stage, attendees say that White started shouting from his table at the back of the room:”You’re an embarrassing doorman and garbage man,” he allegedly said, adding,  “F—you. Kiss my ass.” According to Variety the comments didn’t stop the show and McQueen either didn’t hear the comments or just didn’t acknowledge them — and continued his speech.

Now White has previously bashed the widely critically acclaimed film,  calling it “hate porn,” and has even reportedly heckled other notables on stage at awards show in the past. But while everyone’s entitled to their opinion about the work, he seriously tried the hell out of it if these reports are true.

But according to White, every reporter who was in the room was hearing things.  He responded to the reports: “The barrage of lies, misreporting, unsubstantiated sources and made-up quotes is dismaying.”

Ok… *side eye*

Boom, Boom, Clap!

After shutting down BET last night with the series of “Being Mary Jane,” Mara Brock Akil is preparing for another season of BET’s breadwinner, “The Game.”

The creator and executive producer shared the Season 7 promo with the masses last night on Twitter, check it out below!

We’re feeling the chess board set up with Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson), Malik (Hosea Chanchez), Blue (Jay Ellis), Keria (Lauren London), Chardonnay (Brandy) and Jason (Coby Bell) as the players. And, oh hi,  Kelly (Brittany Daniel)!

The game is on, March 4 at 10P|9c on BET.

FLOTUS Causes Chatter Because She Won’t Feed Guests At Her 50th Birthday Bash

First Lady Michelle Obama is busy planning a big fete for when she turns “50 and fabulous” (January 17)  and while she might be getting her Dougie on with her attendees, she’s not here to feed the nation, so to speak.

The White House has reportedly been sending out save-the-date emails for a January 18 gala dubbed “Snacks & Sips & Dancing & Dessert,” according to The Tribune. Specifically, the VIPs invited to the fete are asked on the invitation, “to eat before you come.”

The move has drawn some commentary from party planning experts like Lizzie Post, great-great-granddaughter of etiquette queen Emily Post, who called the invitation line “intrusive,” and said “I don’t think it’s rude, but I do think it’s a little . . . different than what people are used to. How’s that for putting it delicately?”  And Oprah’s go-to entertainment guy, Colin Cowie, who said “To ask people to ‘eat before you come’ is not the way I would have done it,” Cowie said. “I always think of the food. When it comes to making people feel welcome we give them great music, a well-stocked bar, and excellent food — and you do it abundantly.”

But let’s be real, had FLOTUS spent hundreds of thousands of dollars feeding her guests, you know we’d hear a different kind of criticism from Fox News, the GOP and the like about how selfish, insensitive and wasteful she is. And considering all her associates are likely part of that 1% of folks who we keep hearing own 46% of the nations wealth, we’re sure they won’t be skipping any meals.

Let them eat cake…

Jeezy Blames His Son’s Mother For Assault Arrest

We’re still scratching our head over the news that Jeezy turned himself in after a warrant for his arrest was issued stemming from a 2012 incident where basically jumped his 17-year-old son Jadarius. While some said it was “justified” because teens are sometimes out of control, what could your child possibly do to cause you to slamming him into a glass shower door, beat him in the face and get your goon bodyguards to prevent him from leaving as you finish beating him?

Well Jeezy is saying that his son’s mother is exaggerating the whole story…even though a heated argument did go down.

Sources connected to Jeezy tell TMZ … the rapper and his 17-year-old son Jadarius did indeed get into a nuclear argument in Sept., 2012, but it never turned really violent. We’re told it started when Jeezy told the teenager he had turned into a punk kid with an attitude and he didn’t want the kid staying at his house.

Our Jeezy sources say Jadarius became belligerent and the two starting screaming at each other. Jeezy claims he never hit, choked, or dragged his son, but admits he shoved him to the ground when Jadarius got in his face.

Our sources claim at the bottom of it all … Tenesha Dykes, whom they say is brainwashing the son against his dad and trying to squeeze every penny she can get from Jeezy.

Oh and as for those “terroristic threats” Jeezy said he didn’t tell his son, “I will kill you … I will put a bullet in your head right now,” but he did ‘fess up to saying something to the effect of “I brought you into this world and I can take you out of it.”  I don’t know about the rest, but that sounds about right for a Black parent…
