The president shared the proposal Sunday on Truth Social, stating that the new “tariff rebate” will go to all non–high-income earners. The plan would use money collected from import duties — which have surged by 250% this year, generating nearly $195 billion in customs revenue, according to the U.S. Treasury.

The idea comes as tariffs continue to spark debate, with critics saying they raise costs for consumers while supporters argue they protect American trade interests. Trump says the new checks will help offset those higher costs for average citizens.

While the administration hasn’t set an official income threshold, early estimates suggest anyone making under $100,000 a year could qualify, covering more than 150 million Americans.

Now we still aint rockin wit ol boy, but If approved, the “tariff rebate” plan could mean a $2,000 payday for millions — funded by the same trade fight that’s been hitting wallets all year.
